Hey Washoe County! My name is Brian Wadsworth and I am a member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. I am running for Washoe County Commissioner for District 5. I am a product of being born and raised in rural Nevada.

Imagine we live in a small rural community, hours away from the nearest hospital or other services. A house fire breaks out. Luckily, we have firefighters in the community, and they are able to put the fire out without any injuries or substantial damages. Now, imagine the house fire in our community, but without firefighters. This could be a catastrophic event.

Unfortunately, this was a reality for our neighbors up in Gerlach. In 2025, they were potentially going to be without life-saving emergency services due to an expiring contract between Washoe County and the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. At the time, Washoe County had to piecemeal a plan together. Fortunately, the county was able to secure a contractor to provide ambulance services, but no plan for firefighters. 

All of our communities, no matter how big or small, deserve access to life-saving emergency services. 

 None of our communities deserve to feel unsafe or to be an afterthought or forgotten about.

 District 5 deserves representation that will listen and stand up and fight for all of our communities.
