Experience

I have devoted a majority of my career to public service. Early in my career, I worked for the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. I worked in several key positions with the Tribe; including:

• Water Quality Manager
• Executive Director of the Housing Authority
• Tribal Executive Officer

In my time as the Water Quality Manager, I successfully completed the Tribe’s Triennial Review of its Water Quality Standards. This process was accomplished by coordinating with the Pyramid Lake Fisheries Department, Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, City of Reno, City of Sparks, City of Fernley, Washoe County, the Town of Truckee, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). I was able to successfully defend our proposed changes, and got final approval from the EPA in November 2015.

After working for my Tribe, I went to work for the Nevada Department of Transportation as an Auditor in their Internal Audit Division. As an Auditor, I reviewed contracts and agreements for compliance. I later transferred to the Governor’s Finance Office in the Division of Internal Audits as an Executive Branch Auditor. In this role, I conducted Performance Audits on State of Nevada Executive Branch agencies and reported my recommendations to the Executive Branch Audit Committee.

In my day-to-day work, I serve as the Chief Operating Officer for a non-profit media company. I have worked on develop strategies to address Congress’ recent decision to cut all funding for public media. For the past two years, I have dedicated his time in advocating for the new Federal Communications Commission’s Missing and Endangered Persons (MEP) Event Code. Similar to the AMBER Alert, the national MEP Event Code could help recover our missing community members.
